WBCR DAILY HEADLINES 9.8.16
In world news, Russia announces another round of peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine for the first time in more than two years; and Denmark will reportedly buy the entire collection of the Panama Papers as part of its efforts to reduce the prevalence of widespread tax evasion.
In national news, Chicago’s efforts to improve policing within its own streets are good, but apparently, they’re not good enough; and Elaine D. Harmon, a former pilot for the US military that passed away in April 2015 at age 95, became the very first female veteran to be posthumously laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
In local news, New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman further clarified New York’s position on late-term abortion, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that his ruling will soon become law.
And in sports, Tim Tebow officially moved from professional football to professional baseball by signing on with the New York Mets as a minor-league player.
And finally, since this is the very first WBCR News program of this Fall 2016 semester, I, on behalf of the entire Brooklyn College Radio station (WBCR), personally want to welcome back all of our students to our campus for a brand new semester.
