In world news, Shimon Peres, the former president of Israel, has died at the age of 93 after suffering a stroke; and more than two years after Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 crashed into the fields of Ukraine after being shot by a missile, a team of investigators concluded that Russia was the one that supplied the weapons to the separatists behind the tragedy all along.
In national news, Congress avoided another government shutdown by approving a temporary funding bill that can keep the federal government running until December 9; and a 14-year-old teenager fatally shot his father at his home before going to nearby Townville Elementary School in South Carolina to shoot two students and a teacher.
In local news, family, friends, and colleagues are mourning the loss of a FDNY Battalion chief in the Bronx, as he was instantly killed by debris from the explosion of a two-story building in the same borough.
