In world news, South Korea has told China to back off from their talks with the United States over the deployment of a missile-defense system in their own homeland; and civilians in Libya are calling for the restoration of a monarchy that once existed before the regime of deceased dictator Muammar el-Qaddafi to save the country from a bloody civil war that was catapulted by the Arab Spring.
In national news, Dr. Robert M. Califf has been approved by the Senate to become the new commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA); and the Obama administration says that the Americans that still want to buy health insurance under the federal government, but have now passed the deadline of the annual open enrollment period to do so, will now have to provide documentation to prove their eligibility.
In local news, one half of the new World Trade Center Transportation Hub will finally be opened to the public starting next week after a seven-year delay; and a local judge has upheld New York City’s Sodium Warning policy.
And finally, just as a reminder, my interview with Brooklyn College English professor James Davis will be one week from tomorrow, Friday, March 4.
