Last week, senior Tamila Latif-Zade of the Women’s Tennis team and junior Brian Navarrete of the Men’s Soccer team were named the Student-Athletes of the month for the month of October.
Despite the rough season of the Women’s tennis team in which they held a 2-11 record, Tamila Latif-Zade was a bright spot for the team. She finished the season with a 9-1 record and also completed the season with a 7-3 overall record in doubles. Latif-Zade was given the nod for First Team CUNYAC All-Star for the second year in a row due to her play.
Latif-Zade joined the team in 2018 after transferring from Kingsborough Community College, where she captured a Regional NJCAA championship. She was named First Team CUNYAC All-star at the end of her first season with the Bulldogs where she held a 9-2 singles record and 13-1 doubles record.
Midfielder Brian Navarrete aided the offense for the Bulldogs this season. He had a career-high in points scoring a total of eight for the season. He scored a game-winner defeating Medgar Evers 3-1 on October 16.
Navarrete was named as a CUNYAC Second Team All-Star in late October, this would be his first All-Star honor in his three-year tenure with the Bulldogs.
