Drake Booed Off Stage At Tyler The Creator’s Festival

Drake was booed off stage during Tyler the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Festival last week.

After surprise performances by A$AP Rocky, Lil Uzi Vert and Tyler himself, Tyler hinted one last surprise for the Flog Gnaw attendees that night before concluding the festival.

“I really appreciate every single person coming out to Flog Gnaw again,” states Tyler. “Could I uh bring another friend out?”

The crowd erupted in cheers but soon stopped when Drake came out on stage to the instrumental of his hit song “Started From the Bottom.” The crowd realized that Frank Ocean was not coming out. 

Fans had been clamoring for a Frank Ocean performance since the first Camp Flog, and speculation on the internet lead many festival goers to set their expectations high. Internet theories spread after Ocean’s most recent musical releases: “DHL” and “In My Room.”

After performing two more songs, Drake addressed the less than enthusiastic crowd.

“Like I said I’m here for you tonight, if you want to keep going tonight whats up,” said Drake. 

The crowd began to boo as a clearly defeated Drake walked off stage. “Its been love,” said Drake. “I go by the name of Drake thank you for having me.” 

“Honestly it’s not a big deal,” said Brooklyn College senior Wolfgang Bent reflecting on the event. “I feel like people dragged it.”

The next day on Tyler the creator took to twitter to express his disappointment in his fans, tweeting out in all caps:

“I THOUGHT BRINGING ONE OF THE BIGGEST ARTIST ON THE FUCKING PLANET TO A MUSIC FESTIVAL WAS FIRE! BUT FLIPSIDE, A LIL TONE DEAF KNOWING THE SPECIFIC CROWD IT DREW. SOME CREATED A NARRATIVE IN THEIR HEAD AND ACTED OUT LIKE ASSHOLES WHEN IT DIDNT COME TRUE AND I DONT FUCK WITH THAT”

A series of tweets detailing his perspective of the events followed that initial tweet.

“OK LAST TWEET, I WAS IN THE FRONT, AND I HEAR “TYLLLERRRR!” AND I LOOK TO MY LEFT, AND THIS GIRL, RED FACE, PUFFY, WATERFALL OF TEARS LOOKED INTO MY SOUL AND SAID, TREMBLING WITH ANGER “…WHAT ..THE ..FUCK!………IS THIS SHIT!” I TURNED AWAY SO QUICK SHE WAS PISSED BRO”

“People are entitled to like whatever they like, and people need to realize Drake not the biggest artist ever,” said Wolfgang.

Drake poked fun at the moment in an Instagram post with the caption: “Plot twist…just signed a 10 year residency at Camp Flog Gnaw sorry kids see you every year performing EVERY SINGLE YEAR till you are 30.”
