Ashley Fung Captures CUNY AC Rookie Of The Year

BC Women’s Volleyball freshman Opposite Ashley Fung took home CUNYAC Rookie of the Year honors last week after leading her team to a 16-14 record on the season.
Fung’s first year with the Bulldogs saw her average 355.5 total points, which was the highest on the team and only 2nd in the CUNYAC. She also recorded a total of 315 kills, with a hitting percentage of .193 in an astounding 981 attacks on the season.
“I am very honored to earn this prestigious award,” stated Fung in a CUNYAC press release. “A big thank you to my teammates and the coaching staff for having confidence in me from the very beginning.”
Fung’s impressive play this season has led her to capture a total of six rookie of the week honors in the span of 9 weeks.
Along with Fung, fellow freshman Outside Setter Alanis Guinada won the CUNYAC Sportsmanship award, sophomore Setter Ezri Shor was named a First Team All-Star, as well as junior Libero Yana Shaposhnikova and freshman Outside Hitter Madison Cronk was named Second Team All-Stars.
