In world news, a new travel ban proposed by President Trump effective October 18 now includes three new countries. All citizens from North Korea and select officials from Venezuela and Chad will be prohibited from obtaining visas due to a reported failure to provide information about terrorist organizations. Iraq will be removed from the new law, and trade restrictions from Somalia will be lifted.

In national news, the Trump administration has stepped up the search for parents who pay to have children illegally brought into the United States. Legally, the New York Times has confirmed information that said cases of illegal re-entry are easier to prove.

In local news, the governor of New York has come to the aid of Puerto Rica in the aftermath of hurricane Maria. The creation of the Empire State Relief and Recovery Effort for Puerto Rico is estimated to provide necessary goods, services, and money to organizations willing to help the population of 3.5 million.
