In world news, 39-year-old Centrist and former Investment Banker Emmanuel Macron will become France’s next and youngest President, thereby ending the recent wave of Western populism for now; and North Korea has detained a fourth American citizen in recent memory for no reason whatsoever.

In national news, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has terminated the employments of five scientists that until last Friday were members of a scientific review board; and Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed a bill banning sanctuary cities in his state into law.

And in local news, a debilitating power outage in Brooklyn was so damaging that it suspended service on four subway lines between Brooklyn and Manhattan in both directions yesterday afternoon.
