WBCR NEWS 3.20.17

In world news, U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was President Donald Trump’s chief representative during his visit to China, as it was the first U.S. visit to Beijing since the new administration took office two months ago today; and the United Nations has fallen far short in its mission to help Haiti recover from an outbreak of Cholera.

In national news, the House Intelligence Committee put all of the spotlight on FBI Director James Comey today, as he testified before legislators on Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and on President Trump’s unproven wiretapping claim; and Judge Neil Gorsuch finally began his confirmation hearings in the Senate as President Trump’s choice to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court.

And in local news; CUNY intends to implement significant reforms to remedial programs in its community colleges in 2017 and 2018; and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo finally announces plans to get rid of one hated roadway in the Bronx.
